The garment holds the shape of being worn, with nothing inside it. We make that shot from one photo of the garment.

Ghost mannequin photography shows a garment filled out as if someone were wearing it, with no person and no mannequin in the shot. It is also called invisible mannequin photography. A studio gets there with a form, two or more exposures and an edit. QuickAds generates it from one photo of the garment.

The flat lay is a generated stand-in, made for testing. The frame next to it is one real output of our product, generated from that flat lay on the Invisible form. The top holds its worn shape with no form, skin or hanger in the shot, and the neckline opens onto the inside back of the collar.
Generated stand-in
GeneratedCheck the stripe spacing and the navy neckband against the flat lay. The body came back a brighter white and the navy a brighter blue, and the sides curve in at the waist where the flat lay's run straight. From the neckband down, the body carries 22 stripes to the flat lay's 24, so each stripe is a little wider.
Generated on September 24, 2026 in a one-garment bulk shoot. It is a single frame, so it shows what the Invisible form did with one striped top and says nothing about how often it gets a garment right.
In a studio, the garment goes on a mannequin and is shot from the front, then shot again for the part the form hides, usually the inside back of the neck. A retoucher merges the frames and paints the form out. The result is the real garment, and every garment needs its own shoot and its own edit.
A flat lay, a hanger shot, a folded garment or a photo of it worn. Only the garment is meant to come through, so a person or a hanger in the photo is left behind. The whole garment in soft, even light gives it the most to work from, the same rules as flat lay photography.
Invisible gives the garment alone, holding its worn shape. The other three show a display form: headless, abstract head or a half torso. On a full-length form, a top gets one plain bottom so the form isn't left bare.
Software: you run it, one garment at a time or a sheet of up to 60 garments per shoot, at 1K, 2K or 4K on the default setting.
Our team: we run the shoots for you. Output runs to 100+ creatives a week, and each batch arrives in 5 to 7 days.
A ghost shot sells the garment's shape, so the checks start with the parts a body would fill. Put each image next to the garment photo on one screen.
| Part | What goes wrong | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Neckline | Goes wrong when the collar flattens or closes, so the inside back of the neck doesn't show | Check for an open neckline with the inner back showing, as on a worn garment |
| Sleeves | Goes wrong when they hang flat, twist or change length | Check that they hold some volume and end where the garment's sleeves end |
| Cut | Goes wrong when the body comes back narrower, boxier or longer than the garment | Check the sides against the flat lay: ours curved in at the waist where the flat lay's run straight |
| Color | Goes wrong when whites brighten or dark colors lift | Check it beside your photo on one screen: ours came back a brighter white with a brighter navy |
| Pattern | Goes wrong when stripe spacing, print scale or motif placement shifts | Check a few stripes or repeats against the photo, from the neckline down. Ours came back with two fewer stripes on the body |
| Leftovers | Goes wrong when a hanger, a clip, skin or a second garment stays in the shot | Check the openings, the hem and the edges for anything that isn't the garment |
Google Merchant Center recommends images of clothing worn by people, so for a shopping listing a ghost shot works best beside an on-model image. Source
Ghost mannequin photography shows a garment filled out as if someone were wearing it, with no person and no mannequin in the shot. It is also called invisible mannequin photography, and the inside back of the collar usually shows through the neckline. Stores use it on product pages to show a garment's cut and shape without a model.
Dress a mannequin that has a removable neck piece, light it evenly and shoot the garment straight on, then take the piece out and shoot the inside back of the collar. A retoucher merges the two frames and paints out the form. QuickAds needs neither the form nor the edit: it generates the invisible-mannequin shot from one photo of the garment, such as a flat lay.
Start from one clean photo of the garment: a flat lay in even daylight, a hanger shot or a photo of it worn. QuickAds generates the garment on an invisible form from that photo, or on a headless, abstract-head or torso form, in the set you pick. On the default setting each image is color-measured against your photo where the garment can be isolated, but check the neckline, the cut and the color yourself.
Keep the form, the light, the framing and the background the same for every garment, and shoot the range in one batch. On QuickAds, one bulk shoot takes a sheet of up to 60 garments and gives every one the form type and set you picked. Then check the range side by side, since one image on a different sweep stands out in a grid.
They do different jobs. A ghost mannequin shows cut and shape with nothing to distract from the garment, while a model shows fit, length and how it sits on a body, and Google Merchant Center recommends clothing shown worn by people. Lead with the model shot where a shopper decides on fit and add the ghost shot for the cut, and QuickAds makes both from the same garment photo.
On the default setting, each image gets a keep-or-retry score out of 100, with the reasons, such as a different garment or a changed collar. The score is advice, so a flagged image is still delivered and billed, and re-shooting it is your call. The score-based re-shoot is off for mannequin shoots, because the scoring for forms hasn't been calibrated yet.
QuickAds is a performance creative company that runs the whole chain: creative intelligence, creative strategy, creative production, influencer marketing and campaign management. Ecommerce fashion photography is the link that turns one photo of each garment into invisible-mannequin, mannequin-form and on-model images for the store and the ads.
